India – Africa Business Partnership Summit

FICCI, with the support of Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India organized the India-Africa Business Partnership Summit on 12-13 October, 2011 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad.
The business summit brought together the stakeholders like Ministers, CEOs, Managing Directors, Heads of Department of various corporate, independent consultants and many more, of the select priority sectors, from the economies of India and Africa at a common platform to share and showcase business opportunities for companies from both the sides.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurated the two-day summit, which witnessed a participation from over 120 African delegates and 250 Indian delegates, comprising heads of PSUs, corporate houses, government representatives and consultants participating in the event. DRDO had booked 20 stalls and a lounge area at the Exhibition held on the sidelines of the Summit. The various labs that participated in the Exhibition generated substantial interest amongst both government and corporate representatives from Africa.
Around 30 Business-2-Business (B2B) meetings were conducted between DRDO scientists and respective representatives from Industry and Government. The Exhibition itself was visited by more than 500 people over a period of 2 days. Key dignitaries including Hon'ble Minister of Trade & Industry for Burundi, High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana, and Directors from Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation, amongst many others, expressed their interest in the technologies on display. DRDO has been actively following up with all the parties that showed interest in its technologies.
